For all the lip service paid to the idea of respect for the
elderly,
Just how do you expect our young to believe that when they can see
so many of them begging, scavanging for cardboard and drink cans,
and doing most, if not all of the menial jobs (cleaning toilets,
washing dishes etc) in the country? And that the government has
essentially washed its hands of them?
And because our government allows employers to practise age
discrimination, we're at the point where one is nearly unemployable
once past a certain age, regardless of qualifications and
experience, so one will be forced to work in low-paying menial jobs
or drive a taxi.
And as a result, a new underclass of society is emerging. Basically
if you're past 35 or 40, you're more likely than not, fucked.
Which science fiction writer wrote that novel about a society where
the elderly are supposed to be killed under government order as
they no longer contribute to society and are a drain on
resources?
